Riccardo Calcagno is Professor of Corporate Finance and Financial Intermediaries at Politecnico di Torino. He previously worked at the University of Tilburg and at the Free University of Amsterdam (VU) as an Assistant and Associate Professor. He also worked for 10 years at the EM Lyon Business School in France. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium). He is affiliated research member at CeRP-Collegio Carlo Alberto (Torino) since 2005. He has been teaching Corporate Finance and Corporate Governance at various levels, from undergraduate courses to Ph.D. level. He also taught various courses of Financial Economics in Master and MBA programs.
His research focuses on household finance and corporate finance. He has investigated various topics such as financial literacy and its effects on decision making, and the role of financial advice; mergers and acquisitions, focusing in particular on the problems inherent to the negotiation processes and the pricing and sale of innovative firms; the design of managerial compensation. He has published articles in various academic journals, such as the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance: An International Review, the Journal of Banking and Finance, and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, among others.
